Privacy Policy

RowPal is a rowing app for iPhone and Apple Watch. It has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. We do not collect, sell or share your data.

Camera

RowPal uses the front camera to follow your rowing. Images are processed on your iPhone and discarded straight away. No photo or video is saved or sent, and RowPal does not recognise faces. Only measurements of your strokes are saved with the row.

Motion

RowPal uses the motion sensors in your iPhone and Apple Watch during a row. A summary is saved with the row.

Apple Health

With your permission, RowPal reads your date of birth, sex, heart rate, resting heart rate and active energy. It uses them to set your heart-rate zones and to show heart rate and calories during a row. The watch app saves rowing workouts to Health. You can change RowPal’s access at any time in the Health app.

Apple Watch

During a row, the watch sends your heart rate, calories and wrist motion directly to your iPhone.

Concept2 monitors

RowPal can connect to a Concept2 PM5 monitor over Bluetooth. It reads your row and the monitor’s model, serial number and firmware version. It sends the monitor the piece you chose and your heart rate.

Concept2 Logbook (optional)

RowPal can send row data to your Concept2 logbook if you choose to connect it. Once that row data is in your logbook, Concept2’s privacy policy applies.

You sign in on Concept2’s own page, so RowPal never sees your password. The sign-in passes through a small server RowPal runs, hosted by Cloudflare. It stores nothing, keeps no logs, and never sees your rows. Your sign-in is kept in your iPhone’s Keychain. Tap Disconnect in RowPal to remove it, and remove RowPal’s access in your Concept2 Logbook account.

iCloud

Your rows, goals, profile name and settings are stored on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, synced to your own private iCloud storage. Only you can see them. We cannot.

Sharing files

If you export a row’s data or share diagnostics, you choose where the file goes.

Deleting your data

We hold no data about you, so you control all of it:

• Delete a row in RowPal to remove it from all your devices.
• Remove RowPal’s data from iCloud in Settings, under your name, then iCloud.
• Manage workouts in the Health app, and sent rows in your Concept2 Logbook.

TestFlight betas

If you send feedback or crash reports through TestFlight, Apple shares them with us so we can fix problems.

Children

RowPal is not aimed at children, and does not collect personal data from anyone.

Changes

We will update this policy before releasing any version that changes how your data is handled.
